Ventricular ectopic activity after premature atrial beats in acute myocardial infarction.

چکیده
Ventricular ectopic activity occurred only after premature atrial beats in a patient with an acute inferior wall myocardial infarction. The ventricular ectopic activity occurred only when the coupling interval between the premature atrial beats and preceding sinus beat was less than or equal to 0-44 s. The sinus cycle length, however, appeared to influence the form of expression of ventricular ectopic activity independent of coupling intervals, with single premature ventricular contractions occurring at cycle lengths greater than or equal to 0-72 s, couplets at cycle lengths of 0-68 to 0-71 s, and ventricular tachycardia at cycle lengths less than or equal to 0-67 s.

Two monitored cases of sudden death outside hospital.
Two patients known to have coronary artery disease died suddenly outdoors while active. Neither had symptoms or signs of acute myocardial infarction. They were being monitored by continuous tape recording of the electrocardiogram at the time of death. In one patient the cause of death was cardiac arrest, preceded by bigeminy and multiform ventricular ectopic beats, in the other ventricular fibr...
متن کاملVentricular ectopic rhythms following vagal stimulation in dogs with acute myocardial infarction.
SUMMARY Vagal stimulation inducing significant bradyeardia did not precipitate ventricular fibrillation in any of 34 dogs subjected to ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. Vagal stimulation , however, did result in two distinct types of ventricular arrhythmias occurring at different times following coronary occlusion. Within 3 hours, couplets and salvos were provoked which ...
متن کاملTesting Soon After Myocardial Infarction
men completed a heart-rate-limited (HRL) protocol and 107 completed a symptom-limited (SXL) protocol 3 weeks after the acute event. In the HRL protocol, effort terminated at a heart rate of 130 beats/min in the absence of a limiting symptom, exertional hypotension or ventricular tachycardia. Peak heart rate was not an end point in the SXL protocol. Despite a higher peak heart rate and work load...
متن کاملEffet of low-dose Aspirin on mortality of Acute myocardial Infarction
SUMMARY Between Aug. 1982 and March 1984, In a prospective, randomized trial approximately 24 hours after the onset of acute myocardial, infarction (MI), the influence of Low dose aspirin (120-150 mg/day, just during inhospital phase), on inhospital and post- hospital mortality rate was studied in 62 patients, and compared with control group. The two groups were comparable with regard to age,...
